Sean Edgington BIO

Senior Strategist

Hello, I’m Sean Edgington. As Senior Strategist, I assist Bryan with developing and executing digital strategies. With over 10 years of digital marketing experience, my primary responsibilities also include creating written, photo, and video content for our clients and keeping their websites in excellent SEO shape.

Why Digital Mully?

I worked with Bryan before, and we’ve always worked extremely well together. We share the same passion for digital marketing and SEO. When the opportunity to join Digital Mully presented itself, I couldn’t pass it up.

Sean’s Approach to SEO Strategy

My guiding principle is honesty and transparency. Clients place a lot of trust in the work we do, so I always document my work and share it with them in reports, audits, and meetings.

A Passion for Technical SEO

I have a deep passion for technical SEO. There is something beautiful about making changes to a website and getting the instant satisfaction of results. It’s also a great way to make immediate improvements to a client’s website and build a solid foundation of trust.

E-commerce projects excite me because of the sheer number of pages there are to work with. It’s an excellent playground for that passion. There is almost always something new to work on.

How Sean Work

I treat each website holistically from an SEO perspective.

  1. Data First: I always look at the existing data available, usually through PageSpeed Insights or Lighthouse. Data does an amazing job of telling you what the problem is and guiding you toward a solution.
  2. Start with Technical: I always start with technical SEO, as it is the foundation of any strategy.
  3. Build with Content: Once the technical health is in top shape, I move on to content.
  4. Collaborate: I ensure high levels of collaboration with the client, other marketing departments and paid ads to ensure our goals and visions are aligned.

Success, for me, is measured by achieving the KPIs that are set forth in client meetings.

Sean’s Proven Impact & Expertise

Each role I’ve held has taught me invaluable lessons. My background includes:

  • Tradeshow Design: Designing booths for major brands like Simplot, Micron, Kount, Wada Farms, and even a bar for Coors Brewing Company.
  • Director of SEO: My first dedicated SEO role had me managing 20 clients, running monthly reports, developing strategies, and handling sales and onboarding.
  • Agency Life (Crimson Agility): This is where I met Bryan. We worked very closely, and I delved deep into technical SEO, which only solidified my passion for it.
  • Hollywood Film Studio: I had the pleasure of working for a studio’s digital marketing arm, where I learned a great deal about the content creation process for SEO.

Key Projects

  • Revenue Generation: I assisted a stakeholder for a large medical equipment supplier in developing a Klaviyo email campaign that resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars in new revenue.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: During the complex transition from Universal Analytics to GA4, Bryan and I discovered that transaction data was not being recorded. We spent weeks working through various strategies before finally landing on a solution.

After Hours

I work out of Boise, Idaho. When the weather is kind, I love spending my free time on my motorcycle exploring the vastness of the area. I also enjoy spending time in the kitchen, binge-watching a great show, and playing video games with friends.

  • Something unexpected: I started college at 16 and majored in music. Music has always been a passion, and I can play just about anything with strings (I won’t go anywhere near woodwinds or brass, though).
  • My fuel: Coffee with a heavy splash of heavy whipping cream.

Quick Q&A with Sean

What’s the biggest misconception clients have about SEO?

That SEO is just about “keywords.” Many clients I’ve worked with believe that SEO is only adding keywords to their site, but it’s a deeply technical and holistic process.

What advice do you give e-commerce businesses struggling with technical SEO?

This really depends on the specific instance. However, I would usually advise doing a full site audit to determine if there are any problem areas that can be immediately addressed.

How do you stay current with industry changes?

AI has been a gift for staying up-to-date, but I am also a visual learner. I prefer watching videos from industry experts to see how they approach a given situation.

Best piece of professional advice you’ve received?

If possible, always test your theories before presenting them.

Favorite e-commerce brand?

I’m a big fan of ILM (a motorcycle gear company). I’ve got a jacket, vest, helmet, and riding jeans from them. It would be a dream come true to work with them.

One tool you couldn’t live without?

Oddly enough, I think YouTube. There is a wealth of knowledge on the platform. You can learn to do just about anything from the right video.

Industry trend you’re most excited about?

I am currently very excited to see how OpenAI’s Atlas web browser shakes up the industry, especially in relation to e-commerce.
